Dr Jedda Crabtree,

Clinical Psychologist.

I am a registered clinical psychologist practicing from a suite in Ladhope Chambers, Brisbane city. Here, I provide a space for people to explore their experiences. Where you can develop and grow in ways that support the change you want in your life.

I work with a variety of psychological difficulties including: family and relationship stressors; difficulties managing anger; symptoms of depression and anxiety; adjustment disorders and coping with overwhelming life transitions and loss. I also work with those who are seeking to explore themselves and their experiences more deeply. Perhaps you have noticed unhelpful repetitive patterns in relationships, or you’re wanting to find a greater sense of enjoyment and meaning in life.

Everything is gestation and then bringing forth. To let each impression and each germ of a feeling come to completion wholly in itself, in the dark, in the inexpressible, the unconscious, beyond the reach of one’s own intelligence, and await with deep humility and patience the birth-hour of a new clarity that alone is living…in understanding as in creating.

- Rainer Maria Rilke

My work is predominately informed by a psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic) perspective. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy values the shared experience between therapist and patient. You can expect that your historical experiences from childhood and adolescence will be explored - in particular how they have shaped and impacted your present thoughts, feelings and behaviours - conscious and unconscious. Therapy can help you to better manage difficult feelings, and to bear the normal experiences of suffering in life, that can be painful and sometimes overwhelming. Often therapy leads to a greater self-understanding and curiosity about your human qualities, some of which, can be difficult to confront on your own.

Some people are eager to engage in therapy, for others it can be a daunting prospect. Please feel welcome to contact me if you have any questions or would like to talk about beginning therapy before making an appointment.

COMMON QUS

How long will it take? The length of therapy often depends on whether you would like to work on a specific problem or if you would like to explore change of more difficult patterns, and develop deeper self-awareness and growth.  My therapeutic approach is aimed to treat the unique difficulties and goals of the individual who sees me.

Will my sessions be confidential? Confidentiality is one of the most important factors of therapy.  All information shared in session as well as your attendance in therapy is kept in the strictest confidence. There are rare circumstances that limit confidentiality for psychologists and these can be explored in session.
